Announcing Aspire Release 7

The latest software release adds new and exciting features to the already feature-packed Aspire. Release 7 provides a wide-range of features ranging from a Mobile Extension to Hospitality Property Management integration. From desktop user control via the PC Assistant to port saving fractional T1/PRI setup. In addition to the new features, Tapi 2.x is now a standard feature when using the 64 Port NTCPU-A1 (0891002).

PCPro Version 7.10 which works under Microsoft Vista is available for purchase.

Read on for a list of features and a brief explanation of each of them……

Mobile Extension

Most people have a cell phone that they use for business. Mobile extension allows you to use your cell phone as a single line extension of the Aspire system. This feature is a step beyond simple off-premise call forwarding. You can forward your desk set to an extension which is associated with your cell phone. If using call forward – ring, incoming CO or intercom calls will ring the desk set AND the cell phone. From your cell phone you can tell that call is coming from the office as it shows the CID of your office system. You can set up special ring tones to know you’re receiving a call from your office system. You have the choice of answering or not answering. If you choose not to answer, the call will go to your office voice mail, not your cell voice mail. After answering a call, you can perform basically any function a single line telephone can……from your cell. This includes hold, transfer, park, etc. While you are away from the office you can dial your own DID line from your cell phone and you will get answered by Aspire internal dial tone. You can then access voice mail, make internal or external calls, take part in a conference or perform any number of other system features. The mobile extension feature does not require any additional hardware! At this time Mobile extension requires a PRI for seamless operation.

PC Assistant

The PC Assistant is a desktop graphical user interface which can control your desktop or IP softphone. The PC Assistant is displayed as a taskbar on your desktop. You can anchor it at the top, bottom or either side. It contains a variety of information such as a pull-down with the last numbers you dialed, a directory window for outgoing calls, a list of icons for telephony features such as hold, park, hang-up, etc. Incoming calls will show caller id information along with other call information. All inbound and outbound calls are stored in a call log! If your keyset is equipped with a CTU adapter, you can record calls to your desktop. The recording is tagged in the call log with an icon showing which calls have recordings associated. And….the PC Assistant users have a complete DSS/BLF pull down. Station status is shown by color coding. This is a great option for the remote IP phone users as there is no way to show DSS/BLF other than the available keys on your phone. The PC Assistant can be linked to a CRM such as Outlook 2000+, Goldmine 6.7+ or Act 2005+.

4 Port Call Logger

This unit performs call recording for 4 extensions. The unit connects to the extensions in the backroom and then to a USB port on a PC. Up to 12 call loggers can be connected to a single PC so that 48 calls may be monitored simultaneously. The PC must support 12 USB ports. If more than 48 extensions need to be monitored then more PCs must be added. All recordings can be managed by a single supervisor who can choose where on the network to store the calls, listen, forward, save and delete.

Property Management System (PMS) Hospitality Option

Aspire now integrates with Hitachi-compatible PMS software packages. Previously, Aspire only supported a list of Hospitality features without PMS commands. Adding PMS to an Aspire system consists of the following components:

Hot Dial Pad

Pressing a dial key will now automatically turn on the speakerphone and begin dialing. This time-saving feature can be important to people who manually dial a lot of calls in a work shift.

Simple Caller ID Edit/Redial

Anybody who has had to program the Automatic Route Selection to make caller ID redial work knows a lot of programming is required to make this feature work. Release 7 provides a simple method to edit a received caller ID number for purposes of redialing. When editing a caller ID number your choices are simple: Add 1, Delete 1, Delete the Area Code, Delete 1+Area Code.

Fractional T1/PRI Support

Many customers are using fractional T1/PRI or are receiving both voice and data via their T1 or PRI circuit. Usually, voice circuits are dropped out for the data. However, Aspire assigns 24 channels for each T1/PRI card. You can now program the number of ports assigned to the T1/PRI card. This may be valuable if the number of T1/PRI channels pushes you into a larger CPU.
